Sweet Loggie Bear

Our sweet Loggie Bear has had a rough 6 weeks.  In early May he got a few spots on his face and hands.  We originally thought he had hand foot and mouth.  The original spots slowly went away, but then a couple weeks later he had a large outbreak of new spots.  They started out looking like mosquito bites and then would start looking like chicken pox.  He tested negative for chicken pox, and no one could figure out what was wrong with him.  He slowly started to get better, and we were all thinking he just had something viral and was getting better.

Last week Logan had an even worse outbreak.  It was so frustrating not knowing what was wrong with him or how to help him.  Logan was referred to Texas Children's in Houston.  We finally got him in yesterday at Texas Children's and he has papular urticaria.  It basically means he is having an allergic reaction to bug bites.  When he gets one or two bites, he then has an allergic reaction that causes him to break out in this rash.  I am so relieved to know what is wrong with him, and that he should outgrow it in a year or so.

Unfortunately there isn't too much we can do for him to completely get rid of it.  He is on zyrtec to help minimize the reaction, a topical steroid to help with the irritation of the spots, and then bug spray any time he goes outside.  We leave Monday for Colorado, which I am hoping will help since there are much fewer mosquitos there.  Hopefully it will give his skin a chance to heal!  I am so glad he is not contagious!  We have a quite a few strange looks when we have been out and about!

Happy boy at Texas Children's
Thank you to everyone who has prayed for Logan!  We are so happy to know what is wrong with him, and that it isn't anything too serious or long term.

Hot Shot Soccer

This spring Ben participated in a program called Hot Shots that teaches preschoolers how to play soccer.  At the end of the season they had a scrimmage.  It was so much fun watching Ben!  I was afraid he would be too timid to get in there and play, but I was wrong!  He got right in the middle of it, got the ball, dribble across the field and scored several times.  He had a blast!  I can't wait until this fall when he can play on a real team.

Practicing-He always went at a snail's pace when practicing

Ready to get started

He got the ball!

Score!

There he goes again!

The super cute shark fan!

His 1st trophy!  He was very excited!

Ben was so excited for his cousins to come to HIS game after having watched so many of theirs :-)

15 Months Old

Photos by Sarah Giles!

Logan is now 15 months old!  He has finally gained a lot of weight.  He now weighs 24 pounds and is in the 60th percentile for weight.  He is 30.5" and in the 25th percentile for height.  Logan has a very big head at 48.5 cm and in the 90th percentile.  At one years old he was eating so well and it really helped him gain some weight, but now he has decided to be very picky.  Yogurt and fruit are about the only options I know that he will always eat.  Blueberries are his absolute favorite!  Logan wears size 12-18 month clothes, a size 4 shoe, and a size 5 diaper.  Unfortunately he has already outgrown most of Ben's summer clothes and shoes from when he was one.

Logan began to walk at 13 months and hasn't looked back.  He is everywhere and in everything.  Logan loves balls and bats and almost always has one or the other in his hand.  He loves when you will hold the ball out for him to hit.  Logan is obsessed with going outside.  He would love to be outside all day long regardless of the weather.

Logan was not saying much at all when he turned one, so about a month ago we decided to take his pacifier away during the day.  It has really helped and now he is saying momma, dada, ball, bye and book.  He really is understanding so much of what we say to him.  It is really fun watching him learn so much.  He loves to shake his head yes or no when you ask him questions.

Logan sleeps from about 8pm-8am at night.  We are working on transitioning him from two naps a day to one.  He only sleeps about 30-45 minutes though.  He is growing so much hair right now, it is so cute!  He still has 7 teeth, 3 on the bottom and 4 on the top.

Logan is at such a fun and sweet age and we love him so much!

4 Years Old

Photos by Sarah Giles!

Ben is 4 years old!!!  I can't believe he is getting so old.  Ben weighs 33 pounds and is almost 40" tall.  He is in the 25th percentile for both.  Ben is having a great year at school!  He has learned so much this year.  He knows all of his letters and their sounds.  He can write his name and many other letters as well.  He is very social and friends with everyone.  He is also taking gymnastics, swim lessons and doing Hot Shot soccer right now.  He loves being active and keeping busy.

Ben has such a wild imagination and is so funny.  He is always making stories up and is pretty convincing.  He also exaggerates quite a bit.  He told my mom that he got two shots in one leg and 23 shots in the other LOL!  You just never know what is going to come out of his mouth and if it is the truth.  I'm not sure at what point I need to really get on to him about this, but so far the stuff he makes up isn't hurting anyone and is quite funny.  Some of my favorite words of his are handitzer (hand sanitizer), misdapperared (disappeared), McOdonald's (McDonald's), and he says my cone number instead of my phone number.

This last year was a very challenging year as Ben really wanted to push the limits and test us.  I'm really hoping that this year will be a turning point and we will get to see more of his sweet and funny personality.

We LOVE this sweet and funny boy!!!!
