Patio Project

This past weekend Shawn and I worked on our back patio. We got some flowers for our pots and purchased some new patio furniture. I absolutely love it. We have spent every evening out there since. It is so quiet and pleasant. A few nights ago we had a deer walk across the back of our lot. It was so neat. We are trying to enjoy it outside as much as possible before it gets unbearably hot and the mosquitos start biting.

Landscaping Pictures

We are loving the new house. It is so quiet and peaceful. One of our favorite things to do is just relax on the back porch. Here are some pictures of the landscaping that they finished a couple weeks ago. I think the landscaping makes the house. I love it.

Softball

Shawn has joined our church's softball team this season. Tonight was his first game. It was fun to finally get to see him play after hearing all of his stories from playing baseball while growing up. Apparently back in the day he was pretty good. He played second base the most, but also played all over the infield. He said in high school he pretty much played baseball year round on club teams and his high school team. It's funny, when he was a freshman he got to play on the varsity team. He said all of his teammates were growing beards and had deep voices while he still looked like such a kid next to them.

We've Moved

We moved to our new house this past weekend. Yea!!! We started moving the same day I started coming down with something. I don't know if it was the flu or what but I felt awful. I tried so hard to help move, but then ended up pushing myself to far that on Sunday I felt completely miserable. Shawn was so nice and let me spend the day sleeping in bed and it has made such the difference. Today I am feeling much better. We still have a lot left to unpack and organize. If you know me very well, you know I won't post any pictures until I have it absolutely perfect. I hope to have it that way soon, but they are still finishing up some painting and I can't put anything on top of the cabinets or on the walls until then.

This weekend we are helping my mom watch the boys while Lindsey and Kenny are out of town for a wedding. They are such good boys and are at such a fun stage.

Wood floors & Landscaping

This week they started the landscaping and wood floors. The landscapers have cleared some of the yaupon from the front, so you can now see the front of the house from the street. They have also started the retaining walls.

This is our green and brown room. The walls are green and the ceiling is brown. It took a few tries to get the right color green, but now I think it looks pretty good.

They also poured the sidewalks and driveway this week.

Shop

We have decided to build a shop next to our house. It is basically going to be a detached garage. Having two acres means we are going to have to store a riding lawn mower and other items that aren't going to fit in the garage, so we decided to go ahead and build this shop. It will also be a place for Shawn to have an area for all of his projects he plans to build.

We are getting close. Only a few more weeks. This week they stained the cedar outside and hung the shutters.

Valentine's Day & Birthday

For my birthday and Valentine's day Shawn took me to Houston for a couple of days. We had a great time. We stayed in a nice hotel downtown. On Thursday, he took me to eat at Pappasito's (our favorite). Then we spent Friday furniture shopping. I think I wore him out going to so many stores, but we were able to find new bedroom furniture. I am still looking for a dining room table, but I am in no rush to find one quickly. It was nice to get away for a few days. Thank you Shawn for making my birthday such a special day.
